A Valentine quickie

Keep linking to the Organizing Party here! Mr. Linky has been grumpy, leaving the party here and there, but keep checking back if he's gone.

I had grand plans to make a fluffy GORG Valentine's wreath this year, but I'm on a self-imposed spending freeze.

Well, let's just say thaw...

I planned on using a ton of red flowers to make a wreath, but when I figured how much I would need, it was getting a little ridiculous. I decided to try rose petals instead. I got teeny tiny pins so I wouldn't burn the tips of my fingers off with the glue gun:

Oh wait. Need these too...it's cold outside and I couldn't resist the chocolate at the checkout lane:

Half an hour and half a bag of Flipz later:

Not exactly what I had planned, but it works. The red looks awesome from the street. I still have half a box of rose petals left, so I may keep adding to fluff it up more.

AND it was CHEAP! So that means it will stay, for now. :)

Have a great weekend and clean out some closets! (I've done three so far. Just sayin'.)

The red does look nice. And you can add more cr*p to it next year!

I am on a spending freeze myself. Christmas always makes me feel poor in January.

You've given me the urge to put something red on my front door. Thanks!

Yours looks very pretty!

I'm on a spending thaw too. Your wreath does look nice, the red is so pretty. I'm sure your front door looks fantastic!

I've got loads of white rose petals left over from my wedding. Maybe a white wreath is in order for me.

I still gotta get my post together for the party! I've been away from the computer for a few days. Can't wait to go see what others posted!

I like it! And now I really want to paint my front door black! Which would go great with my house. And that red just looks great. Makes me want to make one! Maybe in a monogram. :)

Ok, I hope that I don't sound psychotic saying this....but I love you! I told my husband that it is pretty pathetic when you love somebody you've never met! I have spent many nights up until 2 and 3 in the morning scouring you blog for ideas! My husband is in law school, so our budget is sooo tight. I love to decorate, but had kind of given up on because of the money it would cost. You have inspired me. I feel like I can still have a beautiful home. Thank you!

How adorable! I just used my berry wreath from Christmas and stuck a Heart in the middle of it! I saw a huge box of rose pedals at the dollar tree and wondered what I could do with them- great idea!

Very cute wreath. Don't fear the glue gun silly girl. Glue guns are our friends! Here are several tips for you to keep you from getting burned again. First of all-- use an old magazine under your glue gun so the excess can drip onto it, whenever it gets glue build up, tear off a page and start another. Each time you pick up your glue gun to use it, drag the tip across the page to wipe off the glue. That is the glue that is super "drippy" You then have to squeeze the trigger to place the glue where you need it-- I always touch the surface and drag the tip off of the project as well-- keeping excess glue from dripping and burning. Also, if ever you get any glue on yourself, wipe it off imediately onto part of that magazine and you won't blister. I sometimes take off excess glue on purpose with my finger tip without burning myself at all by doing this :-) Now, get back onto that horse with glue gun in hand girlie!

Very cute! Good idea to use the pins - I ALWAYS burn myself on the hot glue and it would just go right thru those petals!

Thanks! Kim

Saw your wreath today on "One Pretty Thing". Cute! I'd love to make a heart shaped one, but I'm not sure if I could find one or not. I saw red rose petals today at the dollar tree, and they had wreaths, too! So you could do the whole project for $2! I love reading your blog :-)
