Little bit of Spring!

I don't usually decorate too much for Easter/spring -- the sad thing is it's only because the colors don't "go" with my house. Sad, sad, sad. But that's how I roll. You know how I am with Kleenex boxes, so you shouldn't be surprised.

This year I decided I'm going to amp it up a bit. I saw these little whales birds over at Amanda's place (I thought they were whales when I first saw them and so did the cashier -- tilt your head to the right and look and you'll get it.):
Did you tilt your head? HA!! Told you!

Like always, I used my trusty spray adhesive, my x-acto knife and some fun scrapbook paper. Some of you have asked how I cut stuff out, so I took a pic:
I sanded down the edges a bit with a sanding block, drilled a hole for the ribbon and there you go!:
I chose springy colors mixed with some chocolate brown so they work with our house. I'm looking for the perfect Easter tree to hang them from with Easter eggs. I've only done these four so far, but 12 of them came in the package for only $1.99!!

Say it with me -- it's been a while -- CAAAUUUUUTE!!
So I had the best day last Thursday -- I finally met Beckie from Infarrantly Creative! (Creative is an understatement -- check her out. Her latest post is how to make GORG little storage containers for FREE.) We've talked about it for months now, and I spoke to her Mom's group a few weeks ago but she was sick! So we set it up and had a blast. The shopping near her is A-MAZING. I mean, serious. I felt like I had known her forever too -- we have freakishly similar opinions on a lot of things.

Best part is we actually managed to get a picture! Can you believe it?!

Thanks Beckie, let's do it again soon!

I did another quick project this weekend I can't wait to show you! Have a great Monday!

Love the birds, they look great! I was looking at an Easter tree yesterday but decided to get a white Christmas tree instead, a tabletop size. Then I figure I can decorate for a bunch of holidays with the same tree instead of just a dedicated Easter one. Of course, ask me where I'm going to find a Christmas tree in March? lol Wish I had thought of it when the trees were 80% off in January.

Those are cute! It just snowed the other day, so I am sooo ready for spring.

Too cute! I agree, my holdiay decor needs to have similar color schemes as the rest of the house so it all meshes well. :)

VERY cute, Sarah!! I love them. I haven't even thought of decorating for spring. All I can think of is hydrangeas. I want to plant flowers so badly!!

Oh, and everytime I see you write "caaauuute", I think of that little claymation character on Rudolph that says, "She thinks I'm cuuuuuuuuuuute!!" Know what I'm talkin bout???

What an adorable idea! I think I might make a few for my house and actually decorate for spring this year. I live in MI and I am soooooo ready for spring I could scream...very tired of winter weather! Thanks for sharing such great ideas :)

Blessings :)

The birds are adorable! And I have to say I love the striped paper and the polka dot paper, but I'm biased since I've just finished using exactly those same 2 papers on a wall initial for my cousin's soon to be here baby girl! Fabulous taste! ;-)!

girl.. another cheap thing you can do is go to dollar tree and buy some silver tins.. ( they have ugly flower prints on one side)- go buy some wheat grass ( sometimes you can buy in bulk at grocery store, or earth fare) and grow fresh grass.. cheap and it will match your house ;)

Now, when are you going to send ME a Hob Lob?!?!

Very cute!!! I am so like you! My kleenex boxes have to match the room they are in and when they don't I can't wait until they are used up!
I fear painting my bedroom because all year round I want to decorate but a lavender room at Christmas time throws me WAY Off! :)
Thanks for sharing your darling idea!

The whalebirds looks great!

I don't do Valentines day decor because it doesn't "go" in my house. The boys don't seem to mind.

I gladly enforce the no spring/easter/pastel garbage coming into the house. It's just wrong. Anthing too "precious" must stay out. By order of the queen.

And why do you have to BUY a tree?? Are you not feeling well?

Find a cute container/urn/empty matchy kleenex box (sorry-I couldn't resist) get some branches, set 'em in plaster of paris and you're done....okay, you can spray paint them if you really want to (white? lime? my only two acceptable options for spring colors).
Then you could use it again for easter, stars at 4th of July, blah blah blah.....
