Silhouette Craft Cutter Giveaway!

120-silhouetteOhhhhh you Squeeeeezays!!

I have been SO excited to tell you about this giveaway – I could barely contain myself. I am positively giddy about this one!

For about, forever, I’ve wanted a craft cutter – I have drooled over them in your posts. I have coveted your adorable crafts. I have sighed as I walked by them at the craft store.

And now…the day has come. I have one of my very own. My BFFs (I have SO MANY!) at http://www.howdoesshe.com/ and Silhouette contacted me and asked if I’d like to try one out – and if I didn’t like it I could send it back.

Shut the front door.

Um. Ding ding ding! Yes please!

I looked up the Silhouette online just to see what it was capable of, and got more and more excited with every click. I did the happy dance the day it arrived on our porch. It was soooo pretty:
 SILHOUETTE-2
Just look at her. All pretty and white and gleaming.  :)

There are SO many crafting possibilities with this one!! My favorite by far is the vinyl cutting option:
vinyl6 vinyl2
 vinyl5 vinyl4
I have wanted to try the glass etching forever and now. I. can. Whooeee!:
glass1 glass4
glass5 glass6
I love all of the purdy scrapbook tools and papers but have never scrapbooked! But those of you who do would LOVE the Silhouette:
scrap1 scrap2
scrap3 scrap4
I’m so excited to try out all of the possibilities with paper:

paper1 paper3
paper5 paper6
And I see a cauuute Bub shirt in the future using their heat transfer:
heatTransfer1 heatTransfer2 heatTransfer3
Can you even imagine the fun I’m going to have during the holidays? The pumpkins? The ghosts? The Santas? Ack! GIDDY!

My mind was swimming with ideas when mine arrived, but my first completed project was for the kitchen, of course. :)

I took a little crate thingamabob from a recent thrift store shopping trip with my pal Beckie:
001
Since I didn’t have any apple green vinyl, I tried it out with some card stock. I had a blast trying out some of the (many!) fonts:
008
The one I loved was a bit delicate to glue it onto the crate, so I decided to paint the negative space (punched out the letters above and then used the paper as a stencil) instead:
003
To get a really clean look you’ll want to use vinyl as the stencil, but I actually LOVE how this looked a little imperfect – it was just the look I was going for!

I finished it off with some faux greenery and I luuurve it!:
018
I had planned on putting this up above the cabinets since it’s so full and tall, but it’s so darn cute, I love having it down on the counter too!:
026017
Gah. It is adorable!

What I think is the best part about the Silhouette is there is NO need for cartridges – you create your own text and shapes. AND it comes with ton of images you can use, as well as a bunch you can download online:
flowers_C00083_28466 mehndi_flower_C00622_18816 twigs_C00086_28466
They start at less than a dollar each but the more you buy, the cheaper they get.  AND Silhouette has a blog where they offer free downloadable images every week.

Stinkin’ awesome. Seriously. I may just pass out from excitement!

But I can’t, cause I have some craft cutting to do. :)

Steph said...

Mandy9r said...

Oh man. What would I do with the Silhouette? The real question should be what WOULDN'T I do with the Silhouette! I am currently redoing my studio and am looking for something cute for the walls. I can't really find stencils I like so I would probably make stencils for the walls first. Then stencils for my table tops and desk drawers. The I would take it to work for the bulletin boards I make up there. (Its really a hassle to print out things and then cut them by hand for the bulletin boards.) And I too have always wanted to do glass etching (ever since drooling over them doing it in an infomercial.) so I would definitely figure out a way to incorporate etching in my studio or office. I would actually INVENT ways to use the Silhouette just to use it lol.

Staci said...

Looked at the downloadable designs. Love the clouds! And all the swirleys. And the "Cute as a Bug" one. We call our youngest baby girl "Ladybug".

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!! I would LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this!!! I could but my own vinyl clings for my doors, make cool t-shirts for my kids, and scrapbook!!! I love to scrapbook!!!! Especially if this will cut the fancy words that my other die cuts wont do!! DROOL!!!! I am so behind the times, still working with the original sizzix machine. This would totally bring me up to the times! WHOO HOO, I could be in all the popular groups! *giggle*

I think I'd use it for vinyl the most, probably quite a bit of cardstock cutouts too!
