Hey there! I hope you had a wonderful Fourth holiday weekend! We had such a lovely time…yet again I feel so fortunate to have such an an incredible family and group of friends surrounding us. :)
I’m thisclose to done with our family room and I’m SO thrilled with it. I just need to clean it up and then take some pics. I’ll share it with you tomorrow!
For today, I have a fun little somethin’ somethin’ for one of you. :)
If you are an HGTV nut like me, you know the next Design Star season starts next week!:
Whoo! It’s reality TV and decorating all wrapped up into one – I could just pass out from the giddy. ;)
The first episode airs Monday (the 11th) at 9 p.m. EST. Because I love the show so very much, I’ve been checking out the contestants online over the past few weeks.
This year they include professional interior designers, retail merchandisers, stylists and artists:
And the first HGTV Design Star champion, cutie David Bromstad, will be a mentor to each of them. I love watching him and think he’ll be a GREAT addition to the show:![]()
And HGTV favorites Genevieve Gorder, Candice Olson and Vern Yip will be the judges again this year, along with some fun celebrity guests:![]()
They look so happy. ;)
There are 12 designers competing this season and you can check out their work here.
These photos are just a few of my favorite spaces:
I can’t wait to see what they have up their sleeves!
So get THIS! To celebrate the start of the new Design Star season, the lovely folks at HGTV are giving away one $100 AMEX gift card to one of you lucky ducks!
Yep…$100 buckaroos! That goes a LONG way to changing up your own space!!
All you have to do to enter is comment! For fun, tell us what room you would use $100 on. I’d love to hear!
This one is only open to US residents and is open through next Monday, the 11th, so you’ve got plenty of time to enter! WHOO HOO!
Have fun, good luck, and I’ll be back again tomorrow! :)

My kitchen table needs to be replaced so I would probably put it towards a new table.
ReplyDeleteProbably my back porch. :)
ReplyDeleteI would probably put it towards new bedding for my bedroom. Time for an upgrade!
ReplyDeleteWe've only lived in our current home a little over a year, so there is still much to be done! Next on our list is changing the carpets in our hallway and stairwell, so I guess it doesn't count as a room but boy could we use it! :)
ReplyDeleteI would use the money towards our daughter's room!
ReplyDeleteI am moving into a new place in August and have SO MANY IDEAS! I would definitely use it on my living room!
ReplyDeleteMy bed is ready for a makeover. I'd make that $100 stretch and buy new sheets, a duvet cover and lots of cushy pillows to recline on.
ReplyDeleteI just finished teaching summer school to earn some extra ceesh to redo our kitchen. We don't have enough to get new cabinets and countertops, so I'm refinishing the cabinets myself. (Pray for me). I would love some extra money to buy new dishes to display in our "new" cabinets!
ReplyDeleteI'm working on my sewing/craft room right now and $100 would REALLY help this project!!!
ReplyDeleteI am starting to twitch every time I look at my kitchen, it needs a nice new paint job.
ReplyDeleteWoohooo! The only good thing about summer tv is Design Star! Can't wait! I'd use the $100 in my Master Bedroom - it needs some lovin'! :)
ReplyDeleteA new bed so I don't have to move my big heavy one ever again!
ReplyDeleteMy 18 month son's room! It's still yellow and has flowers on the curtains from when we moved into our house almost 2 years ago! The $100 would give us an excellent jump start to his room!
ReplyDeleteWe are newlyweds remodeling an old home we recently purchased. We would use the money towards underground power! The breaker box is posted right in the middle of the living room wall along with power lines traveling from the side of the house to the power poles outside!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely our master bedroom! I'd say it needs a little pick-me-up and this would be most helpful :)
ReplyDeleteHow fun! I'd put it towards the fire pit we're building in our backyard!
ReplyDeleteHow fun! I would use it for some new pillows for our dull couch & maybe a new lighting fixture for the bathroom---which could lead me to a total overhaul so maybe we'll just stick with the pillows!
ReplyDeleteI would use it towards fixing up my master bath.
ReplyDeleteI love design star! And I would use the money on my bathroom, it needs some painting!
ReplyDeleteThanks
Susan
I would definitely use the money on our home office/craft room. It is in serious need of some organization!

Hmmm, a $100 would buy some fabric to freshen up the living area. Some new pillows and drapes would be a long-overdue change!
ReplyDeleteI would use it in my living room as I wanna do a gallery wall above the couch so I have canvas prints, frames etc to purchase...hope I win so I can get started :)
ReplyDeleteI'd use it in the master bedroom, for sure! Thanks!

ReplyDeleteNew light fixture to replace the one that has stopped working...over my sink.
ReplyDeleteLOVE Design Star! I'm itching to redo my guest bathroom!
ReplyDeleteHannah
I'd put it towards a craigslist headboard. Been married 8 years and sadly, we still don't have a headboard or bed. A box spring and mattress on a bed frame just doesn't seem to have the "WOW" factor I'm looking for.
ReplyDeleteI have been dying to get a new small kitchen table....this would totally help me!!
ReplyDeletekufishy(at)gmail(dot)com
LOVE this show! Sparkle Josh from a few seasons ago lives in a nearby town. We saw him out and about on several occasions after the show. I was starstruck, and my husband thought I was crazy! lol!
ReplyDeleteI'd use it on my basement--the ceiling fell in last week! Or the master bathroom--the tile cracked across the room!
ReplyDeleteAwesome!!! I am getting married and have a lot of work to do on my fiance's bachelor pad! Help!!!! :)
ReplyDeleteIt's been less than a year since we bought this house so we have so much to decorate!

ReplyDeleteI would love to redo our back bathroom into a "spa" for me, and not my boys :)
ReplyDeleteI would use it to get started on our guest room makeover!
ReplyDeleteI'd finish up my bedroom. Or no, I'd start on my office. No...bedroom, for sure.
ReplyDeletesince we are in the middle of selling our house, I would use it toward something for the new house. Perhaps new window treatments!
ReplyDeleteHi TDC! I would use $100 toward my Master Bedroom. Currently need a bedskirt, recover the bench, curtains--so lots of fabric.
ReplyDeleteBTW, I'm rooting for J. Allen in this upcomming season. She did some work for me like 5 or 6 years ago.
Adrienne
Thanks, HGTV! I would use it in our master bedroom. It's in serious need of some attention and this would be the perfect kick start to making needed changes.

ReplyDeleteWould use it to spruce up the Master Bedroom.
ReplyDeleteI REALLY need to work on our master bedroom. so it would probably go towards a project in there.
ReplyDeleteThere are oh, so many projects on my to do list, but I'd probably use it to either go toward a new dining table or to get the carpets cleaned.
ReplyDeleteI would use it on my guest bedroom. It's a mess right now. Thanks for the chance.
ReplyDeleteYay for giveaways!! :-)) I would put the money toward replacing the awful mauve linoleum in my kitchen *shudder*...;-D
ReplyDeleteMy whole place needs an overhaul but I guess I'd have to start in the living room.
ReplyDeleteThis is so awesome and such a generous giveaway. I would use the gift card and redo my loft/office. I could buy all kinds of fun stuff. Thanks for the chance.
ReplyDeleteI would put the money toward a focal rug for our living room.
ReplyDeleteGreat give away! Oh, what I could do with an extra $100!
ReplyDeleteI'm working on incorporating a front living room into the kitchen, and $100 would certainly help with the process! At this point it would go towards window coverings and/or some new cabinet hardware.
ReplyDeleteOh my! Great show, great giveaway on a great blog! Thanks so much for the opportunity!
ReplyDeleteOooh, I know! Curtains! I don't have any in my house!
ReplyDeleteWe'd probably out it toward patio furniture or new dining room chairs - both areas need serious help!

ReplyDeletenadiaanac(at)yahoo(dot)com
I would use it on my bedroom...it desperatly needs something...I don't know what :)
ReplyDeleteMy sister is moving into a new apartment for school. I'd love to give it to her as a going away present! A poor college student needs every penny she can get! :)
ReplyDeleteI would use it to finish my bedroom!! It is incomplete and mismatched.
ReplyDeleteI would use it to finish up a kitchen redo that's been in process for two years!
ReplyDelete$100 sure would go a long way towards making my children's rooms more organized and fun! I <3 Design star. I'm so glad they have the best of the best hosting and mentoring!
ReplyDeleteI would put it towards a kitchen backsplash!
ReplyDeleteI would use the $100 toward new curtains in my living room.
ReplyDeleteI would put it towards taking down the wall paper in our den and painting.
ReplyDeleteMy bedroom needs to not look like a dorm room anymore!
ReplyDeleteI never win ANYTHING, but I never pass up a chance to try! We moved recently and my boys have a new loft area/game room that is SO blah. I would definitely be able to start the decorating with that AMEX card!
ReplyDeleteI would get a start on our basement re-model :)
ReplyDeleteI'd probably buy an armoire since our 1900 house has one closet for the entire thing... and it's the tiniest thing ever.
ReplyDeleteLOVE Design Star! And if I won the card I would so be using it in my craft room!
ReplyDeleteMy living and dining rooms are in desperate need of curtains, so I'd spend $100 on the fabric I've been drooling over for a month now!
ReplyDeletemelissacharlton at gmail dot com
$100 would really help our kitchen reno fund!
ReplyDeleteLove your blog and the chance for $100 too. I would put it towards light fixtures for the bathroom. I hate the hollywood kind we have now.
ReplyDeleteOh man, I could use $100 for ANY room, but for sure on trim (baseboard, door frame) for the living room! We want to put in hardwood floors and our trim is 50 years old with five layers of paint so we have to replace that, too.
ReplyDeleteOh there are so many things I could use it for...living room window treatments, runners, finishing up the outdoors, I would so love to win!! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI would use the $100 to paint my living room and adjoining dining room. It has been more than ten years since they were painted and the hunter green paint is still on the walls. This would be a great start to a much needed makeover. Please help me make it a reality. Thank you for including my comments in your blog. I love reading your articles and viewing the pictures.
ReplyDeleteI would change out the AWFUL wire shelves in our pantry and linen closets with real shelves!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway! I would definitely use this in my kitchen for organization!

ReplyDeleteannreindl at msn dot com
Look out laundry/craft room, here comes some MAJOR organization if I win!!
ReplyDeletedawnjordan6 at bellsouth dot net
We're a military family, and live in base housing....something easily transferred from house to house (classic design) and STURDY to survive all the moves!
ReplyDeleteIt will be used to help finish our basement. We are soooo close.
ReplyDeleteI would use the $100 toward decorating our living room. We already replaced the carpet and bought new furniture, but our walls are bare!
ReplyDeleteOhhh...$100 Paint, Paint, Paint!!! I think would get me the most bang for that $100. I would spread it around my house...powder room, kitchen, #1 son's room, Master suite...the only rooms left to paint in the whole house...I have the time (schools out for summer, I think that is a song :))! I would even share photos if I won!
ReplyDeleteI would use the $100 towards an area rug for my family room.

ReplyDeleteMy kitchen. I want to paint my cabinets and add bead board.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait either! David's zany personality will surely inject some fun into it all. The room I'm dying to upgrade is our master bath! (though of course I have projects up my sleeve for ALMOST every room in the house!). $100 would buy a lovely new sink!
ReplyDeleteUUUUHHHHH...might also use it to get a start on the backyard/fire pit redo we started last summer...it would get something
ReplyDeleteI would use the 100$ to spruce up my bathroom with some new towels and accessories!
ReplyDeleteI love DesignStar! The judges are three of my favorite designers to watch on HGTV! I can't wait!
ReplyDeleteI'd spend the $100 on accessorizing the bathroom and the kitchen. It's summertime, and those are the only two rooms that stand in the way of me having company over as they are quite bare :)
I am in desperate need of a master bedroom redo, please help!
ReplyDeleteMy master bedroom is so dreadful, $100 would go a looooong way to spruce it up!

I would love $100 to work on our bedroom! We just moved into a new house and our bedroom is just leftover stuff from all the other rooms that needed a new home. I would love to create a relaxing space for us!

ReplyDeleteI would use it toward the fireplace we are installing! I have my eye out for some tile just like you have on the fireplace surround in your bedroom. Love it!!
ReplyDeleteI would LOVE to use it in my daughters room! She needs new bedding, paint and accessories VERY badly!!
ReplyDeleteWhoo hoo! Love that show :). I'd use $100.00 to start slip-covering my livingroom furniture. 3 young boys. 'nuff said.
ReplyDeleteFun, fun, fun! I have so many "wishes" to have come true in my home decor...but, I'd probably use it in our family's "game room". We have the nuts and bolts...just need some pieces to tie it all together. :0)
ReplyDeleteid put it towards our new apartment with its second bedroom! scg00387 at yahoo dot com
ReplyDeleteI love HGTV! We just moved into a new house, in a 'new' state...let's just say we have lots of honey-do's on the list. I would absolutely love to do something in my studio/office, but I'm sure my husband would probably re-paint the master bedroom, or maybe frame the HUGE mirror in the master bathroom.
ReplyDeleteOh the possibilities!
ashley.chandler(at)aggiemail.usu.edu
Oh my gosh!! We have been so broke, $100 would be like a meeellion dollars to us. I would love to use it everywhere in the house but honestly I would probably use it to give my almost-three-year-old son a big boy room he so deserves. :) (Your son's room is my inspiration!)
ReplyDeleteEmily (amusedbylife at hotmail dot com)
Oh gosh, probably my living room. I need to frame some artwork and get some spray paint to spruce up some lamps. Or fabric for new pillows! Yes.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
Leone lionsrrroar at yahoo dot com
Absolutely it would be my front porch. Would love to DIY some modern planters and add stripes to the porch. Last thing would be to add old-fashioned string bulb lights that criss-cross over the ceiling. $100 would be so helpful!!
ReplyDeleteLOVE Design Star - looking forward to an entertaining variety of design challenges!
ReplyDeleteI'm working on updating my dining room, so any help is appreciated :)....
I'd love to use it for fabric or maybe to help out our almost finished basement :)
ReplyDeleteWe have been in our house for 9 months, still lots to do! I would use it in our living room/office area! What fun!!!!
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteWe're buying our very first home and would llllloooove some extra smackeroos to furnish the bedroom the way its spacious floor plan and high ceilings intended. ;D That would also free up our hand-me-downs for a guest bedroom!
ReplyDeleteMy porch. That's a room, right?
ReplyDeleteHi! I would use the money in my husband's office! He works hard so that I can stay home w/ our kids and deserves a space that reflects his hard work and long days. Updated window treatments, art work, globes... I can see it all.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
My son is almost 2 and nothing is on the walls and we have blankets hung over the windows. He definately needs more style than that!
ReplyDeleteI would love to use it for new bedding, we've had the current ones since we got married ten years ago, it's time for something new.
ReplyDeleteWe are in the process of buying a house, so I would save it until I moved there. But once I did, I would blow it all on the downstairs guest bathroom. I'm thinking white and chrome and teal accents!
ReplyDeleteI would use it for my master bedroom. We've been in this house for 11 years and the room still has builder-primer, and our quilt has been in use for nearly 20 years.
ReplyDeleteI would use it on my empty living room, it's a work in progress!
ReplyDeleteI would use the money for the supplies and paint needed to strip the horrific wallpaper in our master bedroom and paint it.
ReplyDeleteMy son's room. It's been unfinished for months:)
ReplyDeleteSo many projects, so hard to choose! Probably on the top of my list would be finishing up our master bedroom or maybe some molding in my office/craft room. Would love some extra cash to finish it off faster!
ReplyDeleteOur kitchen is 26 years old and needs a serious update. I planning on painting the cabinets but really need help with the counter tops.
ReplyDeleteI would love to put a huge oval mirror in my bedroom and get some new bedding and pillows for it too! Woohoo!
ReplyDeleteOur teenie back yard for sure! We bought a home, got married, and had a baby in the last 2 years and haven't been able to get to the yard. Would love to make it a welcoming space we can enjoy even though it's small!

ReplyDeletehow awesome of them! i would have to say i would put it towards making my daughter's room a big girl room :)
ReplyDeleteI would use it for our basement, As soon as a couple of rooms are finished I'll be able to move my craft room down and what is my craft room now is going to be an office/school room for our boys...which will mean finally getting their computer and desk OUT of my dining room :)

ReplyDeleteI would use it for my family room. It needs some love right now. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI would update my dining room !
ReplyDeletestarting with a new rug
Love HGTV! I'd probably help my mom with home repairs or decor for her house.
ReplyDeleteI would use it in my kitchen so I could finally install a mini-subway tile backsplash. Thanks for the chance to win :)
ReplyDeleteWe are going to turn my son's room to a more teenage type instead of juvenille room this year. I would use the money for his room.
ReplyDeleteI would use it to paint my kitchen cabinets black. I have been waiting for more money so that I can finish my kitchen. That would be great to win it!!!
ReplyDeleteI would put the money towards a new coffee table and end tables!
ReplyDeleteI would use it in my master bedroom. It needs some love! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteLet's see.... we recently have had a case of bed bugs (EWWEEEE, GROSS, SHUDDER!!!!) and threw away our mattress because it made us almost throw up at the thought of having to ever sleep on it again.....
ReplyDeleteSo I'd use $100 to put towards a new mattress. That's gotta count at changing my space, right?
(until we get a new mattress- it's sofa/air mattress time for the hubs and I.- sigh.)
I would use it in my boys bathroom redo. My son has given me his requests for the bathroom and I'm going to need some money.
ReplyDeleteOh man, we are finally upgrading from nasty builder-grade carpet (left over from the previous owner--yuck!) to a nice laminate. I would use the moolah for a nice rug for my little girl's room. Or for the lumber to build a great big console table. Or for the butcher block we want to put on our kitchen island. Or....
ReplyDeleteHow fun! I am saving up to buy a new desk system for my office/play room so that's where this money would go. Hope I win!
ReplyDeleteWe are in the middle of a basement overhaul, so it would go towards some sheetrock. And maybe a bucket of nails. Or maybe a first aid kit.
ReplyDeleteHands down...something to spruce up my master bedroom. Thank you for the chance!!
ReplyDeleteI would use it to help change my screened porch. We're putting tongue and groove bead board on the ceiling and painting it white.
ReplyDeleteMy house has no entryway and is a bit of a cave. I would love to buy a window insert for my front door that would bring tons of light in! Also, the hubby still owes me a day of labor for mother's day so I'm looking for a little DIY project. :)
ReplyDeleteI am hoping to watch Design Star this season and get some inspiration. I have been working on my living room and kitchen lately. If I were to win a gift card I would use it to buy new hardware for my kitchen cabinets. What we have is definitely not to my taste.
ReplyDeleteI would love to put the 100 dollars toward new curtains in our living room/dining room. We have 21 children so the ones we have hanging are pretty dingy!
ReplyDeleteMy bedroom needs some quite a bit of work, so I think I would have to start in there... it's pretty boring as it is.
ReplyDeleteThe kids' bathroom. One of my sons pulled off the soap dish and broke a tile over a year ago. Despite best efforts, water has gotten into the dry wall behind the tile and now it is moldy and many tiles have fallen off. The whole wall (which has a small window and the tub and is mostly tile) has to be completely replaced. No idea where the rest of the money will come from, but it's a scary health hazard.
ReplyDeleteMary
I would love to spend the $100 on my newborn's son's nursery. We haven't finished his room yet, and I would love to have his room ready before he's a month old!
ReplyDeleteI would use the $100 on our brand new house that we JUST bought!! I can't even decide what room since we have so much to do!
ReplyDeleteMy kitchen definitely!
ReplyDeleteI would use it to buy pretty pillows for our sad couch and chair and a half. I'm not complaining because these couches were graciously given to us by some family friends when we got married... but they have seen their day. And because we can't afford new ones yet I need pretty pillows to liven up the space! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun giveaway! You'll have to add a link after the show starts to where they're showing them online...we got rid of cable. (HGTV is pretty much the only channel I miss). I would spend the $100 on new accessories for my living room. It's all hand-me-down items and I need something new! Thanks!
