Halloween up in here

Ummm…people. It will be NOVEMBER in a mere days. What in the world? Less than two months till Christmas! And I still had my beachy vignette up till today. ;)

The new floors kind of put a wrench in the Halloween decor – most of it has been outside till today. But I finally got a little spooky display going with just days to spare!

My Craigslist buffet in the foyer was such a great find – and it’s so fun to snazz it up every season. I love having this space to decorate!:

paper bats on wall

I threw this together today – and when I saw threw it together I’m for real. I had about a one spare hour today and was determined to get some Halloween out!

The Bub and I started with the bats:

bat cut outs on wall

Aren’t they AWESOME?!

We sat at the Silhouette machine for a while the other night cutting out meeellions of bats. (OK, so that part was already done. The rest of the throwing together happened today.)

To keep them from getting too serious, we added some googly eyes to some, some red sticky stones to others:

I did something similar last year, but I wanted to go big this year! I just put them up with sticky tacky stuff and made them “fly” up the wall.

The vignette was put together with (mostly) items we already had, and just a couple new ones:halloween vignette

We found the black Halloween house earlier this season at HomeGoods. Soooo spooky!

The only other new purchase was the sparkly skeleton that I picked up at Meijer a couple weeks ago (on clearance). I love his bling! And his cute little feet:

 sparkly skeleton

The BOO letters were a craft from a few years ago, and the “art” usually sits on our mantel this time of year:

And of course, I had to bring back the little surprise on the lampshade:

halloween lamp shade

The spider webs and spiders are just black paper and I used little dabs of sticky tack to get them to stay up.

All of that adds up to one festive Halloween display!:

I smile every time I look at it, and the Bub is SO happy we finally got some Halloween inside the house. Just in the nick of time!

Do you decorate much for Halloween? Has the time gotten away from you like it has me?

This is brilliant... I'm gonna glitter my dollar store skeleton. Loving the "boo" too and the bats are right up my alley. Great job. Thanks for the inspiration.

Love it! I just posted today about my inside Halloween decor...I've been working on things on and off all month. I love this time of year! http://sunshineontheinside.blogspot.com/2011/10/colors-of-month-black-and-white-and.html

Thanks for all the inspiration you provide!

Cute! To be honest, I don't decorate for Halloween. Practically, my youngest child now has her driver's license, so I don't have any little ones...and I have some personal pangs of conscience about certain aspects of the day so we just skip it. Which means I'm already gearing up for Thanksgiving, which is my absolute favorite holiday these days. (It's is one of the few non-commercial holidays, and we can simply celebrate family and food (and football.) No gifts to buy, no must-do decorating, no bags of candy to buy and then dispose of...yeah, it's my favorite. Hope everyone has a fun and safe weekend!

Hey Sarah. I'm lovin' the bats!!! Awesome idea. Your whole vignette looks great! I decorate a little for Halloween. Pretty much the same as you. I have a wreath on the front door, pumpkin lights in the front window and my entry dresser is all done up. That's it. I just realized I never did a Halloween around the house post. Hmm, guess I should get on that since it's just days away. lol

Last year was my first year EVER to decorate for Halloween, can you believe it? Mostly my fall decorations get updated with some spiderwebs, glittery spiders, some paper bats (like yours), and some black crows. It's lots of fun; i don't know why I waited so long!

It looks awesome as always. As a newbie in the this blogging biz, I always find the best inspiration here in your neck of the woods. I went all out in the fall decor inside and left more of the halloween outside with a few pillow covers. I too am refinishing our 60 year old hardwood floor and it's definatly time consuming, amongst other things to say the very least. Have a happy and safe Halloween.

Looks good! I'm finally getting some Halloween decor up too. I also have some bats flying through our entryway. Just finished repainting the stairs which will soon welcome some little critter silhouettes. Also, doing the finishing touches on some spooky pillows for the front porch. As always, I had big plans to have all of this done at the beginning of the month...nothing like waiting until the last minute!

Looks fantastic for being "thrown" together! I really like the spider web on the inside of the lamp shade.

Glad I am not the only one who had Halloween come up too quick for decorating. I am doing mine now because the kids are begging for it!

OK, good! I'm happy to find a kindred (last minute Halloween decor thrower together) spirit! My little boy has been pushing me to get decorations up. I told him Halloween is just a few days away. His response: I know - you need to hurry!

The bats are super cute and I love the spiders in the lampshade. Will probably borrow that tomorrow to surprise him.

Happy Halloween weekend!

I love your Halloween surprises!!! I know I have been following over a year now, because I remember the rats on the stairs...adorable!!! You have given me so many great ideas! Thanks!

My son, daughter and I went to see Taylor Swift in concert in Austin Oct. 26. When we found our seats, my daughter turned to me and said, "I think I just saw Thrifty Decor Chick out in the lobby! I started to go up to her and ask if that was who she was....if we were at a New Kids On the Block concert, I would have been certain!" We both laughed. She has been following over a year, as well. So tell us....was that you, or your Texas twin??

I LOVE your entry way. I just had to smile. Cuss mine looks pretty similar. I have the bats going up the wall and a mirror sitting on a trunk. Except.....I also have a tree branch(approx. 5 ft tall) that I spray painted black & put lights on & hung some little glittered Halloween ornaments from. My family loves it!!

You just. threw. this. together. Soooo. jealous!!! Very, very cute and ingenious and trendy and elegant all at once! There is nothing I don't like about this display. The Bub is one lucky boy!

As cute as your bats may be in paper I cannot do bats as Halloween decor-nor can I do the mouse thing. You see..I live in a 100 year old farmhouse that literally has LIVE bats and mice at times. Cute indeed but I will stick with pumpkins. They don't fly or scurry around my house. :)

How are the tree ghosts holding up?

No bats & mice for me, (they give me the heebs!! Even in your photos! haha) Just FALL decor. :) I would like to go 'acorn hunting' to replace my candy corn candle decor; I thought your acorns were so cute.

Happy weekend to you. Chrissy

Love the spider/webs in the lampshade! I'm not a big Halloween decorator but that would be so fun to do while the kids are at school and then surprise them with.

No, I don't decorate for Halloween. Too ghoulish for me. I lean toward harvest displays. Some pumpkins (glass and real) and a little fall village that lights up at night.

I love to decorate for Halloween, especially since my Bestie and I started hosting a Witch's Ball 3 years ago. I need to get around to posting pics to my blog this weekend though! Your display is great but I think that skeleton sitting there is my favorite part of the whole thing! I love his little feet too -- so glad you said that, made me feel normal for thinking it! LOL!

Enjoy your weekend too

I came up with a crazy new "decoration" this year that you might enjoy. My daughter is away at college, so for the first time, I won't see her dressed up. (Sniff, sniff). As I was decorating my hall table for Halloween and admired the beautiful studio portrait of my cutie, I thought of a way to "dress her up". I got out my left-over googly-eyes from our grade school craft stash and with a dab of adhesive, put some on the frame's glass over her real eyes. I then glued a big red fake gem over her nose and blacked out a tooth with a black Sharpie (on the glass, of course). I picture-messaged it to her at school and it was such a hit that I went around giving the same treatment to framed pics of our cats-yes, I have framed pictures of my fur-babies. My hall table decor is complete!
