  1. Ok so I am kind of retardo when it comes to blogging and all but I do have an emial. I found your web site when I searched for bead board on kitchen islands. I have logged on like every day!!! YOu are sooo funny and cute. Me and my friend decided (oh ya I have told everyone about your site) that we are a lot like you, we love to decorate cheap and we have soo much vision, but you take risks and follow thru. Our hubbies don't really like projects either, whick really is a prob. SO I am not sure if this is how I make a comment on your give away or I have to sign up a special way. But I have sooo many rooms that I need help with and I would love to win your design contest. Thanks for all you do, you are sooo inspiring!!! I did the bead board but had some help from a guy and I also already did your pear plate Love it THanks

  3. Hi Thrifty Decor Chic!

I have been "stalking" you for a few months! Luuuurve your decorating ideas. I have "borrowed" a few. Hope to "borrow" more in the future. Hope your father-in-law is doing well. My husband fought the cancer demon a few years ago and now my Daddy is currently fighting his own battle with the ugly cancer demon! I am trying to leave a comment to win your current give a way from the Vintage Pearl. Her jewelry is breath-taking and so sentimental. I would like to win something for my mom, since she is exhausting herself, and selflessly, trying to take care of my Daddy. I am not sure that I am leaving my "comment" in the right place. Help?!?! For those of us, um, computer-challenged humans, would you mind posting a "tutorial" on "how to leave a comment"...if I have done this incorrectly. You rock Thrifty Decor Chic!

  11. And we finally meet!

I live in south-western Ontario, Canada, and I recently discovered the wonderful world of bloggers who love a beautiful home as much as I do. I am in love with my home (and my hub and three girls!) and feel lost if I’m not putzing about with project or two. I stumbled upon your blog about a month ago and have been visiting daily. My in-laws were visiting from Florida recently (my MIL is a fellow blogger) and I was chastised for being a “lurker”. So, I hope you will accept my apologies for lurking around your fabulous site. I am a newbie and can’t figure out how to comment on your blog. Help!

I have been completely inspired by you and in one month I have used more cans of spray paint than I care to admit to (my husband and three girls (6, 9 and 12 years old) have been teasing me about the spray paint). I’ve completed a few half finished projects and I have been searching the storage and forgotten corners of my home looking to give things new life. I have even been “shopping” in my parents basement for a few quickie makeovers. (I found an old rattan, glass-top coffee table which I spray painted to change things up on my deck this year. Love the outdoor living room instead of the patio table!)

It seems to be a common theme that husbands cringe at the word project and my husband is no exception to that. However, he’s gotten so “caught up” in my enthusiasm that he has even (grudgingly) agreed to rip off the carpet and paint the stairs as a fall project. Hooray! I can’t wait! I have peeled a few spots of carpet aside to see what I’m working with and I think I can do it. Of course, I will have to contemplate that over a few glasses of wine this summer.

Thank you so much for sharing all your great ideas and I look forward to seeing more of what you can do. You go girl!

    Your secret admirer,

    Julie

  13. I tried to post a comment yesterday but I don't think it took. I love all the functions of the Silhouette, it's impossible to pick my favorite. I recently retired and am in the process of fixing up my house. There are so many things I could do with this. I'd love to have it!

  14. First comment ever...first time seeing Silhouette ever...going to check in out right now. I heart it just from your info. I ordered a Welcome cling for my door, didn't know I could be labeling away on my own. I had a label maker when I was a little girl that pressed the letter into the plastic. I labeled everything!

  15. You are my inspiration-don't know how I found you but I am never letting you go! eww that sounds really gross-sorry! Anyways, you as well as a few other "centsational" bloggers are what inspired me to start blogging. After stalking you all for about a year I finally jumped on the bandwagon-still trying to work out a few kinks in my own little illiterate computer mind but I have finally gone public on facebook. Feel a little queazy about it but it's out there so I'm not looking back. Just wanted to stop by to thank you for all you do for us do it your selfers, cheapy craft peeps. You are a constant source of fab info and I greatly appreciate your blog! My blogspot is rosegirls3blogspot.com but I call my blog Bless My Nest-stop by!

  20. HI TDC! Love your ideas! Found you a few months ago. Question, how does one work around deer mounts in their living room. Well, we have one living/family room. And 3 deer mounts, have you seen one before? I even sent a FB message to Nate to ask for his help. I don't think anymore deer will enter this room. So, for now what to do? If nothing, then I will have to put them in the stairwell on the wall? but the problem is hanging them on a wood stud to support them. Oyyy, what to do? Thanks soooo much.

  21. Thank you so much for taking the time to post amazing details of your projects. I have been reading you for a while and I think you have great ideas. I would love to win the Silhouette Machine to help me with so many crafty ideas floating around in my head. I would do some Subway art in frames, lots and lots of apparel items as well as some cards. I think the creativity is endless.
Thanks again for all your time and ideas!

  22. I was watching Nate Berkus when he featured your blog (probably a repeat but I just started watching him) I have been reading for the last 3 hours and I can't tell you how inspiring you are. I will be here every day, you have so many amazing ideas. I love the way you look at something from Pottery Barn and other expensive stores and think to yourself, "I can do this for way less money than they are asking." And then you do it, I think I have to start making things again, it's been way too long since I've created/made anything. Thanks for the inspiration!

  29. We're staging our home in preparation for getting it on the market. Our staging consultant recommended that we put a coffee bar in our master bedroom...she said she sees it in a lot of upscale homes and that people like it. I was wondering if you had any ideas for how to make this happen without looking cheezy. The pics I've seen online all include a sink, which makes sense, but we're not going to install a wet bar in our master just to get this in. I like the idea but am hesitant. Thoughts? Love your blog by the way! :) - Nicole H.

  37. I love your blog! You have so many amazing ideas and we share the same taste in projects and in bargain hunting. I was hoping you could tell me about your kitchen island. My husband and I built a home last year and we have a black distressed island with butcher block top also but no matter how much I oil my butcher block it still has that same blonde color...did you treat your wood with a food safe product or was it built with a darker wood than mine was possibly? I really love the warm color and it will look so much nicer with my wood cabinets and black island than the current blonde does. Thank you so much for any help you can give. I will keep on reading and loving your blog. Blessings, Monica

  38. I am OBSESSED with your green lamps. Where did you get them? I have been looking everywhere to find a colored lamp like that to add a pop of color to my living room! LOVE IT!

  39. You have so many great things on your blog, that its difficult to see it all!! Anyhow, I'm trying to figure out how you did the lamp shade on your ceiling fan in the living room. I love it!! Also, I'm so happy to see how your worked the blue, green and red together. I currently have the reds and greens, and was going to change out to that seaglass color. You made me realize that I don't necessarily have to switch out, just bring it in!

Thanks for sharing your wonderful ideas!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Like Sandra I am wondering where you got your switch plates or did you make them? My husband and I just moved a few months ago and have been slowly tackling each room, but the switch plates we could never agree on until I saw the picture of the one in your brown bathroom! Needless to say, we have zero switch plates on any of the switches or plugs and would love to be able to change that! (he is obsessed with moldings too) Thanks, your home is beautiful!
